If you do when did you start?

my son is almost 11 mnths and he has the top two and the bottom two.

I have the smaller toothbrush with baby paste and i want to start brushing them to keep them clean. Just now hes holding it get familiar with it cause he would really let me brush the top ones too much.

How did you get your baby to sit still & let you put the brush in their mouth? mines reallly hesitant.

  3. My daughter is 14 months and has 11 teeth . it is still hard to brush her teeth and maye even worst . i used to have the one you put on your finger when she was younger and she she hated it .I  started brushing her teeth as soon as they were two so she will get i the habit . now she has the oragel baby toothpaste and tothbrush but she still hates it . worst she wants to do it herself . she will just put it in her month and suck it , put it back under the water and suck it again . but still i brush her teeth every day and night even if it is not squeaky clean it is fine . and every saturday it takes Daddy and I to really brush .that is the only day i forced her to it cause by saturday the upper ones turns yellow . she hates to have the upper ones cleaned .  well good luck .. i havent help much may be but just to let you know mine is older and she is not sitting still . but we always brush one after another so she knows it is not just her.

  4. Until my daughter could understand how to hold a toothbrush and mimic me (I think that was around 17 months or so) I just rubbed her teeth with a washcloth and water.

  5. I started brushing my daughter's teeth when she was 9 months old.  I started cleaning them with a cloth when she was 6 1/2 months she had her bottom 2 teeth.

I lay her down on her back and I let her hold the toothbrush with her hand at first then when she got comfortable with it I started giving her something to hold with her hand to distract her.  After I am done, I let her hold the toothbrush with her hand by herself and she usually tries to brush them by herself.

  6. well, i'm too young to answer as a mother (16-yrs i am), but my mom did the same with me as you do now.

she said, it has to take short time, not too much. and the best to talk to the baby, a lot. an optimistic, calm voice to tell him, what'll be the next step, etc.

my mom always told me and show how to open my little lips and "well, where is that tiny tooth? c'mon show it, how big is it", etc.

so i think, you should just try to show it as an exciting, special thing he has.

  7. When my son had his first teeth, I bought one of those soft rubber toothbrushes for babies that you can slide over your finger. You can use warm water or the mild baby toothpaste that comes with it. I just rubbed his teeth with that before bed. When he was about 18 months or so, I got him a regular tiny toothbrush and used that.

To get mine to sit still I would let him on my lap and watch t.v.

  8. I started when my son was a yr. and thats b/c he has most of his teeth. He also would hold the toothbrush, but still didnt follow when i showed him. So I would hold it in his hand with him and pretty much brush it for him. Now my son is 19 months and for a good while now he has been doing it himself. As soon as i put a little toothpaste on the brush, he hurries up and reaches for it. He then tries to suck the past off and eventually starts brushing. But I would def. proceed with what you are doing.

  9. yeah,

we have a soft toothbrush for my baby,

but we don't use toothpastse, just water.

as soon as she got her first teeth i did that.

after about the first 2 years she did it herself.
