  1. First of all make sure you love children. This a 24 hour job. You can't just leave and forget about work. You should contact your local Public Regulatory Services. Search web for Child Care Licencising. This is a great and rewarding job. Do not give up in the first year, you will see profit after the second year. Make sure the people you hire love children and are not there just for the cash. Daycare is my love.

May you be blessed through the lives you will touch.

  2. i think they have a website you can go to. I dont live in Maryland, so I dont know. Let me know if you find one :-) I do know this really good site though, check it out!

  3. get a license

  4. The Maryland Committee for Children has an awesome website that offers all kinds of info for Daycare Providers, and people interested in becoming a provider.

    http://www.mdchildcare.org/mdcfc/for_pro...

  5. I think you have to take some college courses, and have years

of experience as a director of a child care center but I don't know much  about that.

If you are talking about starting a daycare in your home I know all about that. I am a licensed family child care provider in

Howard County Maryland. Getting licensed is a four month process that involves an orientation, taking so many  hours

(I can't remember how many)  of early childhood education classes, a SIDS class, first aid and CPR, a background check, and having your home be inspected by the Fire Marshall and by the Child Care Administration. Getting your fingerprints/background check is the longest. It takes about 6 -8 weeks to get the results back.
