and appearances as well.

not much exposure to it as of yet...but looking forward to my paris trip where i'll be stuffing my face with la bonne cuisine francaise!

Yes .. it's very good and there is a lot of variety depending on which region .. south is more Mediterranean with olive oil based dishes and goat cheese and lamb and lots of seafood. To the north you find heavier dishes with more butter and creams as well as wonderful deserts like crepes... In the alpes you'll find the cheese fondue and raclette (melted cheeses and cooked ham dish) North east are cassoulets (bean and pork dish) and some cuisine with a strong german influence.

I have never been to France, but that is my ancestry. We eat French Acadian [Cajun] food here in southeast Louisiana. But, not much of it is true French. Like, gumbo. that comes from a desperation when they needed a dish to feed lots of people for cheap with whatever they had on hand. It is not French, but so good!!! I have eaten Coq au vin that a friend made and loved it!!!
