if so you must have loved the pens in game three - of course it's not just this game, but the league and the officials did a nice job on holmstrom tonight - if i was the pens, i'd try bobby clarke-ing him if he is still able to play ... whatever works (and is allowed) - skill vs. gooning, i thought the league was trying to get away from the late 70's image - by-the-way, it's legal to position yourself in front of the net

  1. its not illegal to camp out in front of the net, its illegal to be in the crease we know, refs are only human, and the late 70's hockey was the best. and i wish every game in this series would be like game 3, if you didn't enjoy it (pens fans and detroit fans alike) than you should hang up the jersey

  2. Saq, penguins...birds with red wings are pretty rare, I guess....see, a tie-in to the World Wildlife Fund.

  3. quit crying we beat you take it like a man i gave all the wings props for winning in impressive fashion in the first two games give us ours we outplayed you and we had more heart tonight

  4. it goes both ways tho.... in front of the net its a battle. if you lose time and time again ur just not as strong as ur opponent. your not likely to get seriously hurt in front of the net, more so along the boards and open ice hits. its a little cheap sure, but what the heck its the finals, no one plays like a pansy at this point

  5. What does the World Wildlife Fund have to do with hockey?

  6. PItts won tonight because they finished on their opportunities and it had nothing to do with the refs.  Also, like it or not, goon tactics is a legitimate part of hockey.  There is strategic value to it and it has always been part of the game.  You also cant possibly deny the Pens have skill.

Add:  I get what you are saying and I partially agree with you, but first of all those "penalties" in front of the net are often let go.  Yes they are against the rules but you can find 20 instances per game when they are let go, not just tonight.  Also, if I were to rewatch the game and start making a list of penalties that should have been called, Im sure I could find a bunch of stuff the Wings got away with as well.  Sure the ones on Lidstrom and Holmstrom were particularly bad, but thats just the way the game goes.  I could be wrong, I have never really played hockey except in parking lots when I was young and you could very well know more about it than I do.  Thats just opinion.
