know the staff at their local starbucks better than McCain knows Sarah Palin? If not, then why did we never hear him ever mention her before?

I never heard of her before yesterday, but I love her already. A friend is just a stranger you never met.

I don't know. And I think McCain decided it was time to pick a running mate, and since he was under some kind of a pressure, he picked her, probably by some kind of a chance.
