Do you web cam with friends ?

Considering web caming with a friend or two in Japan. Any pros or cons on this? Does a head-phone with a mic help a lot ? Anything(s) to avoid ?

I webcam with friends and family all the time, Its a great thing to do if you want to see them right away. Its fun to do, I love to, but there pro and cons with doing this.

Pros:

-You Get to See and Talk To Eachother

-Free, unlike the phone, no long distance charges

-You dont have to leave your home.

Cons:

-If your webcam isnt built in to your computer, you may have difficulties setting it up.

-Some times the webcam doesnt work for some reason

-Sometimes you will either hear them and not see the person, or you will see them and not hear them.

-Not the best graphics,needs to be focused.

Set Up-

To set it up, simply, insert webcam into the USB port of your computer, then install the driver software, there should be a popup in the corner to do this. Then go on MSN, or AIM,ect. and go to video, if the webcam is plugged in it should find the camera and work.

*Note* Some webcams dont have built in microphones so be careful when buying one.

- I dont like the mics you put on your ear, they fall off a lot. I reccomend either a webcam with a built in mic. or a laptop which comes with a built in webcam and mic.

I use a laptop with a webcam. But I have tried all the other ways as well.
