Doctors, Booking... 15yr old?

hi :)

how do i go about booking a oppointment at my local doctors, iv got the number ready for the morning but can i actually book an oppointment without my parents permission? (they allow me obviously but thier on holiday).. i am 15 by the way and need to speak to him about a possible infection and the maybe getting the pill..

  1. yes u can book it, but im not sure if without parents permission u can get the pill, although some docs will do it.

    Ps. if i was ur mum i would wanna know if u want to go on the pill and if this infection was an sti


  2. Of course you can and dont worry all consultations are confidential.  If the doctor blabbed to your parents you could have them sacked.

    If you have had unprotected s*x then look up your local family planning centre and they will help you asap.  Your doc should do this also, but you need to tell them it's urgent.

  3. In the UK, you don't need your parents permission to make a Drs appointment, neither do your parents need to be present. Although most Drs will try and encourage you to wait till your 16 (the age of consent) most won't have an issue prescribing you with the pill. (Again, your parents don't have to know). You could also go to your local Brook Advisory centre or the Family Planning clinic for contraception.

  4. Most GPs will see a reasonably sensible 15 year old on their own and have a duty NOT to inform her parents without first getting her permission!
