Does American society actually reward stupidity?

I was horrified at this when I seen this report. Does America actually reward people for doing such brainless acts? It would be even more horrified if he writes a book and gets a multi-million dollar deal for it. What do you think?

I won awards for eating paintballs, going swimming in 34 degree water with speedos on and stuff like that.

I do it because i like to see people smile and laugh. It is for their entertainment.
