Does anybody else fear for Barack Obama`s life like we do in England ?? As much as the world would love to see a black leader of the most powerful country on Earth which would certainly shut the ignorant racists up, but the memories of Martin Luther King keep flooding back. I am a white Englishman born and bred and only wish we could have a black prime minister so to even things up and bring some sense to this island!! Our prayers are with you Mr Obama and family

  1. Yes, I have fears too. It is a shame how some people still dwell on the past. There is always going to be some idiot out there that is going to try something stupid.

  2. i think about it all the time, America is just sick and twisted. all Martain Luther King tried to do is set things right as they were SUPPOSE to be and nobody should not have to protest about equal rights. and look what some stupid b******e did to him. nearly shot half of his face off because of it.

i just will never....never understand how americans think, makes me even shameful to be part of the nation. if Obama becomes president, i fear for his life. every time he has open conferences or goes to visit some places, anybody could be waiting for the right time to assassinate him.

i can't imagine what his wife and kids will go through when that day happens.

it was the same with my city Mayor, who is black by the way. he was just elected a few years ago and my friend was talking about it with  me, on how we should wish them luck and the best of safety.

  3. I love Obama and really hope he gets voted in to the White house.  I have the same fear.  I think he will make a great leader.  I have to wonder if he and his family believe the same.  I also feel that he picked a strong runningmate as well and it makes me wonder if he did this "just in case".  Its too bad that some things just never change.

  4. I actually wish condaleeza rice had ran for election, then it would kill two birds with the one stone - a woman and a minority all in one.

Its about time the white male stood down (and yes I am a white male) but I love equality.

  5. I don't know how a black prime minister would necessarily help your country more than a white one, isn't it about the ideas and policies?

But in answer to your question, yes! I do seriously worry that Obama is going to be targeted for assassination, because lots of Americans (not most, but many) are still ridiculously narrow-minded and racist. And being black, he is way more likely to draw the wrath of extremist white-power groups than any previous president. It's worrying :[
