Does DVR really help tv ratings?

My one friend told me that when you record a program on DVR/TIVO that cable company actually uses them to confirm ratings is this true?Thanks

Ratings have nothing to do with DVR.  Ratings have to do with Nielsen Families.  Nielsen is an independent org. that gets about 10000 households(I'm not sure how much)  and asks them to record what they watch.  Think about it.  Technology wasn't good in the 1950-1990 and how do you figure ratings were recorded?  That's how.  When you hear of points, 1.1 is about 1 million viewers.  Because 10,000 or so is a big number, the statistics predicts what the nation watches according to those households.
