Does Vista suck ***!?

I know MANY computer people, and they say Vista sucks.

And that XP is much better. As vista cannot find the right drivers bla bla bla...

Do you agree?

I have a 3.2gig laptop, 1 gig of RAM and XP - I also have a 4.2gig desktop, 2 gig of RAM with Vista

Which one runs faster? - the laptop... enough said!

Actually, you have to stand back and first ask yourself "What am I going to do with Vista?"

For example, if you're buying a new computer with adequate memory and a relatively fast processor, you should be fine as long as you aren't trying to make it cure cancer and the like.

On the other hand, if you're upgrading your old Windows XP rig to run Vista, you're bound to run into some trouble. This is because Vista is a totally different animal underneath. In other words, Vista is having to work harder to be compatible with the dated hardware, which is why its going to be ridiculously slow.

So, what are you going to do with it? Email, word processing and internet should be no problem with any relatively recent hardware. On the other hand: hardcore gaming, 3D modelling, photoshop and movie making? If your rig isn't top notch--not gonna happen with Vista.

I have XP on my desktop and Vista in the laptop.

I would have to whole heartedly agree with the general, Vista sucks, consensus.

The laptop spec greatly exceeds all the minimum requirements for Vista, but it's slow, have had driver issues, update issues, compatibility issues.

I would stick with XP for the time being until they can sort a more reliable version.

I'm hearing the same thing. A guy from work just had to buy a new printer because there were no drivers for his old one on Vista. So I've got my new laptop set up with XP pro. (And actually think 2000 worked better.)

Yep, XP was a pain when it first came out and took the best part of two years to get things like drivers sorted, I'm sure Vista will eventually get sorted but until then, XP SP3....lol

I usually wait until at least Service Pack 2 before I use a new Operating System.  I don't like Windows Vista (it's a resource hog), I think we should skip over this version of OS just like most of the world did with Windows ME.

Vista doesn't suck - companies who cant be arsed to release fully functional drivers for practically brand spanking new hardware do.

On balance though I would stick with XP - if it aint broke don't fix it!

Yes.  Nothing runs on it and what does run runs VERY slowly.
