  1. Viruses are actually fairly complex, for something so simple. The virus itself usually includes a protein capsid and a ssRNA or maybe even a dsRNA (Single Stranded or Double Stranded). Retroviruses will contain an enzyme called reverse transcriptase, which will translate the RNA from the virus into a dsDNA and implement it into the cell's genome to carry out its orders. As for metabolic processes, it is not very clear to scientists as to how all viruses work yet.
