It can kill yeast cells, yes- but unfortunately the saliva in the mouth will break it down before it's had a chance to work well.  If you want to stick with the oldest remedy, that would be Gentian Violet.  Acidophilus doesn't actually have any effect on the thrush itself, it simply helps restore the normal flora of the mouth itself.  It will however, stain your mouth and teeth purple temporarily.  But it is safe enough to use on nursing infants, and would be safe for an adult.  Other than this, you would do best to see the doctor and get a prescription for lozenges or mouth rinse containing an anti-fungal.  The sooner you treat it, the sooner it is gone and easier it is to rid yourself of it- so whatever you chose, pick one and use it soon.  And while you are at it, get yourself two new toothbrushes.  One to use now while you treat the infection, and one to replace it when you are recovered.

Yes it can. AKA probiotics, this supplement can help reinstate the natural bacteria needed. For oral, the powder form would be best instead of the pill. Most docs also recommend yogurt, but you must find a yogurt with active cultures in it for this to work. The yogurt contains the same, Lactobacillus acidophilus.
