  1. Toward the end of each straight and near the beginning of the curve is a line, if you run in lane one, closest to the curb, from one of the lines around the curve down the straight to the next line you will run 200 meters.

The line is white and goes across the track to the far side.

There are usually numbers of the lanes at one of the lines, and sometimes there are numbers in each line where the staggers are for the start in each lane other than lane one.

  2. Typically that is half the length of the full oval of the track.

However, most tracks now are 400 meters instead of 440 yards.  Your terminology makes me think of my first track coach  : )

  3. It's half the track (if four laps equals 1600meters/one mile).  On most tracks they'll be located near turn 3.  You can start there and finish at the finish line, or start at the finish line and end there.

  4. I'm not sure about where the marks for a 220 are, but for a 200 you just go halfway around an average size track. The way I've seen it, the 200 starts on the left end of the track, on the other side of the bleachers and opposite the finish.
