I eat brocoli sprouts every now and then but it's pretty expensive. Is it worth trying to grow myself?

Are all sprouts like alfalfa and brocoli about the same nutritionally?

Also, Is it true that you can get deathly ill if you don't grow them properly?

  1. I dont understand how you cant grow them properly. I thought it was just a glass, some wet cotton wool and some seeds.

  2. They can easily be sprouted.  Just make sure you use clean seed and at least daily care.  Also make sure you used only edible seeds.  Some seeds will make you sick.  Milo is one.  Bad care of the sprouts can make you sick also.  There are many research sources on the subject.

  3. I've grown my own sprouts. Get yourself a book on growing sprouts, and follow all the instructions. If your not careful about cross contamination you can get very sick, since any germs that enter the sprouting jar will multiply quickly. One real nasty one is called Salmonella.

  4. Yes, hidroponic.
