  1. This is one of my favorite sewing projects, a cute boxy toiletry bag, it's fun and very simple:

It's low-cost and great for learning how to put a zipper in. You only need 1/2 yd of fabric and 1/4 yd of interfacing. If you do choose to complete this project, I would definitely recommend a heavy-weight interfacing, which will give it great shape. Good luck & have fun!

  2. Purses seem to be the rage right now.  I'll bet you could find lots of instructions for making purses online.

  3. try www.sewing.org  -- i love that site. great tips & ideas & downloads ....

    have fun

  4. http://www.instructables.com/ has some free patterns, so does JoAnne.com and Michaels.com.

Some easy projects are canvas tote bags (really can be sewn out of anything, not just canvas)

    Aprons, pillows, throw blankets

  5. Well, you could go finish up my divided skirts for me. Then I wouldn't be sitting here wishing they were ready to wear.

they are the broomstick type but divided.

  6. how about learning how to do prestamped, prequilted, cross stitch baby or lap quilts

  7. Try crazy quilting!  I have been using my scraps to play around with it lately, and it is a blast.  Use the fancy stitches on your machine to decorate your piecing, and make the results into a bed quilt, a pillow, a bag, or whatever you want.  It is so much fun!  I am working on a 12 by 12 inch piece with all black prints and one red one in the middle, and it is awesome.  Have fun.

  8. Make up bags,

    coin pouches,

    wallets,

    purses,

    aprons,

    curtains,

    swags,

table top - table clothes and runners

children's clothes - simple sun dresses are great

    stuffed critters,

    floor pillows,

    bed shams and ruffles,

the list is endless - my mother is a seamstress

  9. What about trying quilting.  It can be done by hand or machine.  There are many different projects that you can make.  Check out http://www.appliquequiltdesigns.com for how to quilt and reviews of quilting books.

  10. design and print patterns for bags and hats etc with free downloadable software at www.wildginger.com

then buy some fabric and make your creations.
