  1. It really is based on your strengths and weaknesses.  Some people have a great float serve, while others have a great top spin.  Work on perfecting your strongest serve.

From there, you learn to use that serve when it comes to serving positions.  If they have a weak passer, or a hole in the court, serve there.  Your coach many times will tell you what to serve, so learn how to serve your best serve to the position she or he tells you to.

When you have a great, consistent serve, then from there learn how to serve other types of serves so you can choose what serve would be best against what team.

If I notice that a team has problems passing balls that are high on their chests, I will serve deep float serves.  If I notice a team has a problem with short or fast serves, I will serve short floaters or hard, top spin serves that will drop before they get to them.

Jump serving is a great serve to learn, but not necessarily always needed.  It wastes energy that may come in handy in a very high intensity, and tiring, match.

  2. i make a fist and hit the ball on the circle otherwise known as the doughnut hole.

orrrr, over hand i squeeze my fingers tegether throw the ball up like 2 or 3 feet above my head, making sure that its perfectly inline with where im standing.

point your foot to the direction your going to hit it in, and just give it all you got,

i like to imagine the ball is someone i hates head :)

  3. Wow, great copy & paste and no individual knowledge.

MY suggestion would be that it is all about the other team and identifying open spots/weak players on the other side. If there is an open hole in 2, short serve to 2. If you know a guy in 5 is a bad passer, deep serve to 5. Identification is key. If you like more power into your serves, start practicing your jump serve.

    Good luck! :)

  4. *Serve through seams with a deep floater.

    seams - between two players

deep floater - serve it far but inside the court.. its a serve with no spin on it at all.. it floats in the air and sometimes it moves from side to side or up and down. Have you ever played dodge ball??? well when guys throw it at you really hard you'll see it going one way and you think it wont hit you but all of a sudden it floats to the right at the last minute and they hit you. Kind of like that...

*SERVING CORNERS... good spot, either far corner would be good

*Serve it DEEP to the outside hitter... they wont have enough time to recover from passing so you only have to worry about 2 hitters instead of 3. Maybe they wont be able to hit it over haha ^.^

*Serve it to the weakest links...

-if your opposite side serves and they hit it out or in the net SERVE IT TO THEM... they'll feel really bad about it and wont have enough time to recover which will make them feel worse. Or if you know a person who cant pass... serve it to them.

*Serve far, far, then short.. or the other way.

TRICK THEM... make them think that you only serve DEEP. They'll start adjusting by the third serve and then surprise them with a short ball.. meaning serving them right by the 10 foot line or in front of it...

  5. Float serve will probably be the best kind of serve. The name pretty much tells it all. What the ball will do it seem to kinda float in the air but the fun part is the less spin you have to the ball the better. With no spin it won't break the air like a topspin serve but will actually move in a sporadic motion. So just imagine serving the ball and the other teams passer gets into position to pass the ball when at the last second the ball moves and the pass just shanks the ball decreasing their chance of attacking.

Now the float serve takes a lot of practice but just watch the movement of the ball every time after your serve and see what you are doing wrong. Start off holding the ball almost at eye level. Then toss the ball into the air but try not to put any spin in your toss. Here comes the hard part is when you contact the ball. The motion can be almost described as just pushing the ball while its in the air but just with a lot more force. Important thing is to not snap your wrist and also don't swing your arm across your body during the follow through.

I hope this helps and if you have any more questions feel free to message me.

    P.S. Practice practice practice

    Introduction

"A good jump serve uses the same skills and techniques as a good spike," says Rob Heidger, pro beach volleyball player. "In fact, Europeans call it a 'spike serve' because it is so similar to spiking."

    Instructions

    Difficulty: Easy

    Things You'll Need

    Volleyballs

    Steps

1Step OneSee where your opponents are lining up and aim for the open court.

2Step TwoKnow your opponents' weaknesses and serve accordingly.

3Step Three Click to enlargeStand 4 to 6 feet behind the back line.

4Step Four Click to enlargeToss the ball with your most comfortable hand and put it in a spot that allows you to spike the ball from that distance.

5Step Five Click to enlargeJump up and perform your usual spike movements (see "How to Spike a Volleyball" in the Related eHows).

6Step Six Click to enlargeUse your whole body - arms, wrists, abs and hips - to hit the ball.

    Tips & Warnings

"Think 'spike' and add a great toss in front of it," says Heidger.

Learn the jump serve. An underhand "granny" serve will not win you style points on the beach.

Heidger and his teammate, Kevin Wong, are the top-ranked U.S. men's doubles team in beach volleyball. They competed together in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia.
