Question:

Does anyone support this?

I don't know much about Sarah Palin, but I do know she's not very experienced and I read an article today that said:

The governor also opposed designating polar bears as threatened under the Endangered Species Act, fearing that step would get in the way of a proposed natural gas pipeline tapping the North Slope's vast reserves.

I'm not a crazy activist or anything at all, but does anyone at all think that was a good idea? I read that and I was appalled. What do you think?

  1. Poverty causes suffering and death in humans.  Our economy runs on oil and natural gas.  I'm not in favor of helping polar bears at the expense of human lives and human suffering.  We need alternative energy because petrochemicals aren't infinite, but until we develop effective alternatives we need fuel more than polar bears.

  2. That bill would clearly have hurt the bears more than it would have helped them. So she opposed it. The bears are already protected and well taken care of. The bill you are referencing was a pure political move. Even Greenpeace and other wildlife groups opposed it.

But you did a great job of winding up the silly liberals who just take your word for it rather than finding out the truth.

  3. I dont like any of the choices... :(

  4. its wrong but this kinda c**p happens everyday.

  5. ya crazy

  6. I think her and McCain will fit well together.  As for how they will destroy the country and how it will affect everyone else is a different story.

  7. Like you, I am not a tree hugger, but this does not sound like a good idea. We have to protect our natural environment and the animal, plants, etc. that inhabit it; otherwise we lose it all. I think that Palin is a good choice for McCain. She is young and female, and will most likely sway voters who are still undecided.

  8. Wow!

John McCain's VP choice is more shallow and superficial than Fox News reporting. McCain's VP choice is based on divisive gender politics - his only hope of winning in November is to persuade staunch Hillary supporters to vote for him based solely on the candidate's gender - rather than leadership.

However, women who respect their own best interests will choose Obama and Biden who have a proven track record of standing up for women's issues - reproductive privacy, pay equity, freedom from violence and discrimination.

Shame on you John McCain for putting your campaign before America's national security.

Shame on you John McCain for putting this election before America's economic interests.

Shame on you John McCain for demonstrating your lack of judgement.

  9. I think she's an amazingly good choice. Her opposition to putting polar bears on the endangered species list is, I think, well founded for the reasons she gave. I'm not keen on her anti-abortion stand, but at least "she puts her money where her mouth is", so I'll overlook it.

  10. I think she is another in a long line of neocons who would sell their mother for a buck.

  13. The pipeline is harmless to Polar Bears.  In fact, they'll build dens near them because of the warmth.

  14. I agree that we need to esplore for more oil, but I do think that the polar bears need to be protected.  Usually someone can come up with a compromise that both groups could live with.  Governor Palin should have realized that.
