there isn't even a strong correlation between these two things, let alone a *causal* relationship. There are just as many arrogant ignorant people as there are arrogant non-ignorant people. This is similar for non-arrogant people...they are just as likely as not to be ignorant. As much as we may want to believe in some sort of instant karma (the Beatles made that up, there is no Hindu tradition of instant Karma) such that the prideful will be punished, this only exists in parables (see the Christian bible..it's full of this particular type of story). If you are a Christian, and therefore apparently required to read the bible literally, then I don't think you have much choice to believe that the meek shall inherent the earth....which is to say that the prideful will be punished....

They are linked, I think, but it is not necessary. One can be arrogant but not ignorant and  a lot of people are ignorant but not really arrogant. But the two very often do go 'hand in hand'.

No, it is exactly the opposite.  The lack of knowledge creates the belief that the only correct opinion or idea is their own.  Therefore ignorance creates arrogance.

No, to the first question. I would think so for the second. A person may see what is happening around them, but excessive pride may prevent them from acting accordingly. If someone is convinced they are correct about something, even if they find out they were wrong they may still act as though they believed their original assumption, especially if they argued their point of view long and hard enough. For some people it is easier to just take their lumps than eat crow and perhaps look momentarily "foolish."

Not necessarily. It CAN cause shortsightedness- which can be misconstrued as Ignorance... But Anyone who just goes around with the Attitude that they know "Better"-usually end up proving to everyone that they really Don't.
