Does cotton shrink ?

Hi,

My brother gave me a 100% cotton t-shirt that I love, but it's far too big for me - Can I shrink this in the washing machine?

If so, what temperature would I have to put it to?

if u just wash it it will shrink. but dont put it on super hot because it will shrink too much.

Yes, cotton shrinks.

I got a shirt recently that was also 100% cotton, and I had the same problem you did.

So I first washed it in cold water, then I put it in the dryer on high.

Just make sure that you stand near the dryer while the shirt is in there, and check on it every like 7-10 minutes, just to make sure that it doesn't shrink TOO much

I tend to shrink stuff in the dryer...wash it normal and then toss it in a dryer for an hour.

yes, cotton will shrink if you wash it in hot water

Cotton clothing can shrink from hot water in the washer, or being dried in a dryer.  Just one regular dryer cycle should shrink it considerably.
