  1. Yes, as thrust bearing wears the crank will have increasingly more end play (walk).

  3. Crank walk does exist....ask anyone who's owned a Mitsubishi Eclipse with a 7 bolt 4G63 engine for a long time.

  4. it does but it can be kept to a minimum by using the proper bearings and thrust washers. it can be caused by the worn bearing.  

  5. Because the rear main bearing in almost all motors is also the thrust bearing. It is a regular bearing with shoulders on both sides to control the amount of allowable crankshaft thrust. Thrust amounts to less than .006 in a small block Chevy if it's within specifications.
