Does electric guitar have batteries?

the vast majority of electric guitars do not have batteries in them...

but there are several popular exceptions...

Acoustic/Electric guitars - they are technically acoustic guitars but have a built-in preamp so they can be plugged into PAs and amps...these preamps require batteries, usually 9-volts...

Active pickups - most electric guitar pickups are "passive"...they need very little power and the output they produce tends to be rather small...active pickups use batteries (usually 1 or 2 9 volts) to boost the output of the pickups so that the guitar sound hits the front-end of the amp harder creating more overdrive...

Novelty guitars - some guitars have speakers built right into them...these obviously would require batteries to operate...

No. That's why it's called electric Guitar. you plug it into an amp and plug the amp in the wall and turn the amp switch to on and thats all there pretty much is.

Yes, it's a dumb question, and no, they don't use batteries. Electric guitars need very little electricity, draw power from the amp they're connected to or from the transmitter used to play wireless by professionals.

Some with built in effects or preamps do.  The very cheap toy types with built in speakers or recorders do as well.

Most do not, but some with active pickups or pre-amps built in will require batteries.  The batteries are not to power the guitar however.

Ones with active pickups, built in amps, or some other form of active electronics do.  But usually they don't.
