and I am American but I seem to love everything about France-

their lifestyle, food, clothing, music, decor etc... if I moved to live there would I be accepted? I have heard that Americans are not very welcome there. Also what things may be drastically difficult for an American woman to adjust to there?

  1. I will find snow every year on the mountains, Alps, Pyrenees, Vosges. Much less certain on the Massif Central but it happens often enough not to be surprising.

You can have snow every year in the north east part of France, which is the coldest.

Then you do have snow falls during very cold winters in the rest of France, but those are not regular occurrences. I have seen snow only four or five times in twenty years in Paris.

  2. where are you gonna live??

personaly, i'm a french woman and i live in paris and i can tell you that i've got a lot of foreign friends!!

i've been to the US three times (NYC and east coast) and it's true that our way of living are totally different!!

anywhere you go in france you'll feel the change in the food, the custums, the history and people's mentality!

our society is really marked by our very old history, our famous artists and writers!!

but as i don't know where you are gonna live i can't detail it to you.. if it's in paris, just tell it and i'll give you some tips and informations if you want!

ps: but if you love french culture, you're probably gonna love France!!

  3. ever heard of the alps?

and yes it will be a major cuture shock.

personally, i dont really like it there but everyone to their own. :)

  4. Yes it's snows in France but only in the Alps and the Vogses.

France is also wellknow as a famous skicountry with his many skiresorts.

As an american you have to learn french !!! It's the only way to be one of them after a while. Its depends also where you stay (in the great cities or on the country ? On the country it is even more difficult to integreat.

  5. If you move to France, then how do you plan to live?  You can't work there unless you can find an employer that will hire you BEFORE you leave the U.S. and will swear they are hiring you because of your special skills, they can't find anyone locally to hire.

You can't LIVE there illegally because if you rent an apartment to live in, as soon as the post begins delivering mail to you, they will notify the goons in the black leather jackets, so you CAN expect a visit from the Immigration types and, after a short visit to the Palais du Justice... they will kick you out of the country.

So... like I asked... how do you plan to live there?
