Question:

Does it snow in Texas?

I am looking into moving near Dallas in a town/city called Cedar Hill. I was just wondering how much snow there is in that area. We are going to build a house and want to know if it would be worth it to put in heated flooring and a heated driveway. Would either of those be worth it? We live in Idaho right now and we get A LOT of snow and heated everything is definitely a luxury! Would it be worth it to put those features into our house or would it be a waste in that area of the world?

  1. I wouldn't bother.  It does get cold in winter, and once in a while it snows a little, but nothing like Idaho.  It wouldn't be worth the expense.

  2. i thought texas was underwater because the polar ice caps melted, you should rethink your destination

  3. We are just south of Dallas; It snows a few inches a year. You need good insulation in the house as the wind will blow. And it can be very hot in the summer.

  4. It can and has.  However its unlikely.  It probably doesn't even snow enough to stick more than once every year or 2.

You are probably wasting your money doing that in Dallas.
