  1. there's a chance it will.

    but it's worth it.

  2. Limewire has the potential to hurt your computer because people that have infected files are sharing them with you. Therefore, when you download a song and it's infected with a Trojan or other virus, then you will get infected.

Unfortunately, it's a chain of infections everywhere. If you want free stuff, look into http://thepiratebay.org. they have lots of stuff but you need a program like uTorrent to download the torrents.

  3. Music files are usually fine, but if you encounter zipped files i wouldn't touch them.

  4. Note that using LimeWire allows anyone else using it, to directly access your hard drive.

In addition, YOU need to get the copyright owner’s permission before you download anything, else it is illegal.

It’s just like going into a store. Everything is right there but you better go to the register before you take something home.

Also, as others have noted, many virii can be downloaded and dumped onto your hard drive, very, very easily.

  5. No, Limewire doesn't hurt it, but the files you download from it can.

Be vary wary of which files you download. If you're just downloading music, it's pretty safe, just download ONLY MP3 files and watch how big the file is... A typical song is between 2,500 and 6,000KB. Files that are less are incomplete or possibly viruses. With video files, stick to Mpg, Mpeg or AVI. Again, watch the file size.

NEVER download free programs, zip files or executable (exe) files. Do so and you WILL get a virus eventually.
