  1. His stiffest competition was in the 4*100 relay, which the Americans were no favored to win. Also Lochte was supposed to be his stiffest competition in the 400IM, and Ian Crocker is the other American mentioned who is competition for Phelps in the Butterfly and the current World Record Holder in the 200 I believe.  The Japanese guy referenced is Kitajima who swims the 100 and 200 breaststroke and never competes against Phelps.

He doesn't have a lot of competition, but in that many races he has enough where it wasn't a cake walk to win all the races.

  2. Ryan Lochte can seriously challange Phleps for a gold, in the 200 IM, Phleps was only one one-hundreth of a second faster than he is.Ian Crocker can also give Phleps a run for his money in the fly events , if he beats Phelps he wont get both medals, because the winner of the 100 fly will go on the 4x100 IM relay. And don't forget other pepole from other countries. you never know who can pass phelps.

  3. Yeah. Lochte and some other Guy who's American too.

  4. Lochte was one of his main competitors in the last race, but I think he was so exhausted from his race 20 minutes before. It took a lot out of him.

  5. Phelps entire body was built for his specialty.  The only "real" competition would be a carbon copy of himself.  He doesn't tire easily and you notice the other guys breathing fairly heavy when the swim is done...Phelps was only out of breath once that I saw and that was during an interview.

Phelps is the best so far.  I'd love to see someone equal him.

  6. Michael is phenomenal, but anything can happen on any given day.

  7. i know. he's so awesome!!!!! but there is that really good japanese guy. and the french are really good swimmers aswell.

  8. when you're using steroids, you've got no one to compete with

  9. I don't think so but he did get 1 or 2 bronze medals...i don't remember...But he's an amazing swimmer
