Question:

Does the "perfect" relationship exist?

I'm basing this on the song "Johnny and June". From what I know Johnny Cash and June Carter had a bumpy road but it seems like they were truly in love... they died within a few months of each other.. are things like that really possible or is it just some sort of fairy tale? Can people really die of a broken heart because they loved their spouse SO MUCH even though their spouse put them through the wringer?? I've heard that true love isn't something you have to work at.. Sometimes it feels like my boyfriend and I have it ( whatever "it" is) but other days I just want to leave him .. I would like to hear what others think..

  1. You do have to work at true love. It's just like any other relationship you've had or friendship.

  2. Yes June Carter's perfect husband was a drug-addicted self-destructive, ego-driven celebrity. Does that sound perfect?

All that romance c**p is silly nonsense.

  3. "the ring of fire" says alot about love and the hard work it takes. However listen for the red flags. Do not ever belittle yourself or let anyone else. Staying in a bad relationship only because it is your dream of perfection is crazy; because that is all it is a dream.

  4. Why want one?  Why rely on a word to define a relationship, or a single meaning?  It's not like anyone ever needed to, just to then have it ruined by something that had nothing to do with it in the first place.  Any change in how you feel towards each other is really just a natural change in circumstances.  You can always learn to flow with that.

  5. It does not exist. Nothing is perfect.

Film or song whatever just exploits human's emotions.

  6. Yes, it is difficult to imagine. The medical community claims there is no such thing, yet it is a story I have heard repeated all my life; 2 people dying at almost the same time, even when one of them was "in perfect health". Doctors don't believe in it; well, I don't believe in doctors!

Another story along these lines is when a parent is so disappointed in the way one of their children has turned out that the parent "dies of a broken heart".

Well, good luck to you and your boyfriend!

  7. No.

  8. ...not anymore, can't think of a better one than adam and eve...

  9. I do not believe a perfect relationship can exist, if we also do not have perfect human beings.  You must have one to have the other.  However, I do think that people have an idea of a perfect relationship that they strive for with every relationship they enter.

This may be one of our shortcomings, as we crave and want that perfect relationship, whereas we just need to learn more about compromising because that would eliminate a lot of the arguments and issues that come up for people.
