  1. yes go to www.state.gov or www.travel.state.gov and see family law there.

  2. err yeah, otherwise life would be way too easy

  3. Yes as long as you both are free to marry and marry legally in the country abroad.

  4. Of course, all you have to do is translate your marriage certificate from that country and take it to the US embassy in the country you get married in.

  5. As long as you follow the laws of the foreign country then the US would recognize your marriage.

  6. It depends on the country and who is working in the consolate, they usally let you know what will help $$$$$ them with recognition process.

  7. Yes. Just have to let the Embassy know and then start the paperwork to bring her back.

  8. if you're a guy, yes, but you'll have paperwork to fill out.

  9. they will if you report it or something . i mean me and my husband got married in the philippines and the US recognizes that marriage valid since we have provided them with our marriage certificate and we have always claimed so . but if you divorce your spouse in the US then the divorce is valid only in US and you're still married in the Philippines .... i'm thinking you aren't interested in divorce anyways ..

  10. US would recognize the marriage (unless, possibly, it violated a law of the US, like bigamy).

However, merely marrying a foreign national does NOT automatically qualify her to enter the US. She would still need to apply for a visa (I think it's the "I want to bring a relative" visa, but I may be wrong).

  11. Yes it does.  If you plan on bringing your girlfriend to the US, the quickest way to do it would be to file Form I-129 "Petition for Alien Fiance" available at www.uscis.gov.  The petition takes 6-9 months to be approved and you will have to marry within 90 days of her arrival in the US.  If you marry her in her country, she will not be able to automatically come back with you just because you´re married.  She´ll have to wait in her country while you file Form I-130 "Petition for Alien Relative" which takes 9-12 months.
