Does this even have a name?

I meet someone today who has the ability to drink the strongest alcohol and never gets drunk. or could go out and do drugs but never gets high. i was wondering if anyone knows if this has a name for it. example people who are afraid of things have the word phobia attached to it

Maybe this kind of person, have very strong body so he/she won't get affected on any of these things. For example if someone starts drinking early or frequently than a person that tried first time, obviously the one who have experience won't have any affects.

Counterphobia is deliberately seeking out and exposing oneself to, rather than avoiding, the object or situation that is consciously or unconsciously feared.

But obviously your friend has a severe case of the Stupids. He's probably an adrenalin junkie, or someone who could care less about his health and well being, because this behavior can kill him. No one is immune to the consequences of abusing drugs and alcohol. No One.

He is a Compulsive, Reckless and Delusional, if he thinks that he is larger than life and indestructible. You need only turn on the news or google news articles about young people that are dying everyday due to unintentional drug and alcohol related overdoses. They think and everyone else thinks they are fine, but they can go into cardiac arrest, without warning.

This Narcissistic self destructive behavior should be curbed before he does harm to himself, you or one of your friends if you are in his presence. Hopefully you are not letting him drive and you're not trying to keep up with his pace in drinking and doing drugs.  I would avoid hanging out with this friend and any others like him.

Update Friday 8/21/08: I'm sorry, I never said your friend was an addict. There is a difference in what I said as I feel that anyone making a conscious choice to do drugs or drink in excess, even occasionally, is disturbing and is at the very least not making a good decision. It only takes 1 time to be the last time.  Both drugs and alcohol cause an impairment in judgement. That's the bottomline.   You said that they can drink or do drugs and never get high or drunk, but then came back later and said he only takes a drink ccassionally. I take it that possibly when he does, it maybe is too much or possibly the hardcore high volume liquor.  If your friend is an occasional drinker/drug user, then it is even worse that he may over do it, this is what I mean by being compulsive, or driven by adreniline because they may believe that it has no effect on them.  

I added a link in sources to a couple of charts about the effects of alcohol on your system at specific levels.  If anyone has 1 or 2 drinks, of say hard liquor, they could easily register a .10.  Possibly 1, depending on their tolerance.  But I can almost gurantee, that no one can drink the strongest alcohol and never get drunk or do drugs and not get high in terms of what it's doing to their mind and body.  I also added links to a site that describes the effect of different drugs on the brain. I have found no physical term for what you are talking about, other than thrill seeker, adrenaline junkie, etc. as this is primarily a behavioral issue, since both drugs and alcohol have an effect on everyone's mind and body, whether they are cognesent of the fact or not.  There is no medical or physical way that anyone is immune to drugs and alcohol.
