Does this seem fair?

My dad left his heating on, in his room. If I did this, I would be tarred and feathered, but when Dad does it, he doesn't suffer any emotional distress.

When you say you're an adult, do you mean you're over 18?  The very fact that it's your dad that is breaking the rules you have to communicate your feelings to him.  Be patient and most importantly, be understanding.  This too shall pass.  Good luck and God bless.

Actually yes it is fair if he is the one paying the bill for it.

However if you are suffering emotional distress from the way he treats you maybe it is time to move out.

Your dad did this beacuse he forgot. Plus- men are a lot like children and your mum knows that. She probably gave him the hard word without you knowing this. They have their own relationship that is different from the one they have with you. It's just the way it is.

Just accept this and get used to it. Say sorry more often and mean it- they will be less on your case.
