  1. He has officially retired!

I actually thought it happened at the beginning of the playoffs, He just finalized it...

  2. It's expected.  He has been declining the past two years.

  3. Wait a minute, Hasek is retiring?   I thought it was LITY and NIPS.  So are they pulling a Hasek- retire, unretire, retire...., or is Hasek pulling a LITY/NIPS?

Just kidding, guys. Good to see both of you here.

Hasek has nothing left to prove, and I would guess being a back-up doesn't appeal to his nature.  I would hate to see him stay too long at the party, like Rod Langway did when he tried to play for the San Fran Spiders back in the old IHL. Could barely finish a 20 second shift. I know he was a player-coach, but it was still sad to witness.

  4. Fine.. Time to see if Howard is the future. If not... push Larssen harder to be ready when OZZY retires!

  5. I drafted him  :)

    King

If we hadn't done it..............somebody else would have.  When we drafted him, we had no idea if he would ever play in the NHL, let alone when.

He was a great goalie, a fun guy (a prankster too).

Somewhere I have a picture of Tretiak, Hasek, and Belfour together from the 1991-92 season.  In about 5 years from now, they'll all be in the Hall of Fame.  I should get it signed!

  6. He had a great career. This is a good time to retire.

  7. Finally

He had a good career. I'll miss his small goalie mask and him flopping all around the ice.

  8. Im not suprised, but what an amazing goalie.

He will defiantly be remembered for his great career.

  9. I'm ready for him to retire. I think he's lost his edge. He should retire (again) on top, and stay retired this time. Don't get me wrong, I like Dom and appreciate what he has done for the Red Wings, goalies and Hockey, but it's time.

  10. had had a good career

  11. he's had a great career and i love my wings...but the time comes when a player has to ask himself...is it time to hang it up...you gotta realize that hockey players can play well into thier forty's i mean look at chelios and igor larionov hasek roy gretzky and a bunch of others....if you still think that you can go....you should...and if you wake up and say "i'm getting to old for this"...then hang it up...but i say if dom wants to keep going he should

  12. I will miss watch Hasek Play. I enjoyed him. But he has plenty going on in his Homeland. He has his own clothing line and last I heard was opening a restaurant as well. He could probably get a job in the hockey world if he wanted. Great career and good memories.

  13. From over here in Philly, it is easy to say he should retire. I never wanted to see Bernie Parent retire so I can understand how it feels.

But after the way he looked against Nashville, and his injuries, contract, and lack of dominance that he had while with the Sabres, I think its probably best for both Hasek and the Red Wings to move on.

  14. d**n im sad! but i cant lie he had a great career and he was an amazing golie!

  15. i think its about that time. and there really is no better time for him to retire. he's had a great last season. im going to miss him... dammit LOL i just got sad! no more dom....

  16. Oh.......dear.

When I clicked on the link and saw I thought my heart was going to stop. Wow. I mean I knew it was coming, but still........

I can say this: I do not like Detroit in any shape or form......I do not like the fact that Hasek was a part of the Detroit team that killed my Stanley Cup dreams.......but I do have to admit Hasek was one helluva goalie and I can't wait to see him in the HHOF.

  17. another great goalie gone. it sucks. brodeur, osgood, and kolzig should be about ready to retire in the next few years, too.

congrats on winning the bet. where's jacoby?

LITY- ur one smart fellow. so, who let him go?

  18. Yay! ^^^^

He had a fine career. :)

  19. Yes, Whoho!

I am not a big Dominator Fan sorry.

    But this was awesome. http://youtube.com/watch?v=J8M2SNe6siA

  20. Yeah, but it is time now. He keeps either getting injured, or just not playing well, as evidenced by this year's playoffs. He was a great goalie, one of the best.

    King: what was your bet?

    ~

Looks like you won the bet then, King. Although the Lakers are really showing some fight.
