Don't know what to do ?

I just declined a job offer that I thought I didn't want less than an hour ago, and no sooner than I got off the phone did I realize that I think I made a mistake... now I don't know what to do. I feel like I can't call back human resources and tell them that... I feel devastated... it was such a great opportunity, it could have helped me change a lot in my life and now I can't stop crying. i feel like "reality" just hit me.. there were other jobs which sounded pretty good but now that I feel like I've woken up, I'm not so sure anymore.. is there any way to get back the job I declined without sounding like an absolute jerk and getting laughed at? I feel like I was difficult for human resources to deal with in the first place throughout this whole job application process.

  1. Take a deep breath and calm down.

Now, ask yourself why you turned it down. What were your reasons? If they were important/serious, you did the right thing. Even if does not feel that way now!!!!!

If you feel that you made a mistake, you can call them and ask them if the job is still open. Tell them that after you declined, you felt like you had made the wrong decision. Ask them if they will still allow you to have the job.

    Good luck!

  2. If an offer was extended and you turned it down, chances are they won't extend the job offer to you again.

It also depends on the reason you told them why you can't accept the position at this time.  Whatever the reason was, if you weren't sure whether you wanted to accept the position or not, you should have told them you needed a little time to weigh your options.

It honestly can't hurt to call them back and tell them you weren't thinking straight and you'd be honored to work for them.  I wouldn't put any money on them accepting that though.

If a candidate did that to my company (and they have), we wouldn't consider for a position with us ever again.

Now pull yourself together, call them and tell them you want the job if it's still available...good luck!
