Question

..how some very young people like (14 year olds) claim to know everything about music and only listen to "good" music of the 70s and 80s cause todays music "sucks"?

They obviously had some ideas implemented in their heads by music snobs and think its cool to hate todays music just because other musical geniuses said so.

I'm not trying to offend anyone who listens to classic rock and older music, if you liked it without anyone telling you to, then its fine with me. But to only listen to this type of music just because it is deemed good and refuse to listen to new music sounds pretty retarded to me.

These people are obviously too afraid to listen to new bands because they don't know how to judge music by themselves.

Why cant people just listen to what they like without being influenced by others and trying to look cool and "different"?

some people listen to some music because its what there friends listen to or they try to rebel and listen to the most annoying music to annoy their parents. I listen to punk rock like Green Day. but i made that choice for myself. i understand what you mean i a compleatly agree with you...

Wow I couldn't agree more.

Music is a weird thing.  Some people enjoy blues, others country, others rock, and others jazz.  What makes music appeal to certain people and not others is scientifically unknown.  

I can't stand teenagers who are big Beatles fans and stuff like that.  Because they were famous at one time, they feel "in" and "cool" because their taste in music is "good."  Sure, some kids just like the Beatles, and I get that.  But seriously.  Those who are obsessed with the classic rock, even though they weren't alive during that period, are just denying themselves to their generation of music.
