  1. go and get a hole saw kit. they cost less than fifteen dollars and connects right to a drill.

  2. You can find a replacement k**b set at any dealer that sells renovation, or 'antique' hardware.  An on-line search will turn up several, but you may have one local.

A typical hole saw would be a problem to use, where there is already a large hole in place.  You will find that it would be 'drilling' on only half the hole.  There are ways around this problem... the hole could be filled, and re-drilled, or a router and template could be used.

To 'fill the hole', I would use a hole saw to cut a plug to fit the hole.  I would glue this plug in place, let the glue dry, and then re-drill for a new 'standard' k**b-set.  If the plug doesn't fit tightly, then I'd glue it to a thin layer of plywood, to act as a 'backer'.  Note - you'd be gluing the plug to the plywood, not the plywood to the door.  Use clamps to hold the plug and backer in place, and re-drill.  I'd recommend using the same kind of wood, for the plug, that the door is made of.  If the door is oak, use a piece of oak to make the plug, if it is pine, then use pine.  This will help keep your drilling on an even basis.  If you were to use a hardwood plug in a soft wood door....you'd find the drill/hole saw would want to pull to one side, and vice versa.

    Good Luck

  3. Here's the most cost and time effective way to fix this.  Take a piece of plywood and in the center drill a 1/8" hole.  Center that hole with the center of the hole in the door and clamp the plywood in place.  Now take your drill and 2-1/8" hole saw and use the hole in the plywood to center the larger pilot bit of the hole saw.  Once the outer ring of the 2-1/8" saw starts through the plywood it will continue straight and true though the door and you will have a 2-1/8" hole exactly centered with where the 1-3/4" one was.  Now simply install the new hardware and k**b.

You can use this same plywood template to redrill the other doors if desired.  The hole in the plywood will act as a guide for the hole saw and you can center the 2-1/8" hole on the 1-3/4" hole, clamp and drill.
