Question:

Doughnuts…? What should I do?

Let me tell you something: last week I drove to Louisiana to visit my sister, but on my way I saw a huge billboard with a delicious doughnut at a fast food. I couldn’t stop myself driving by and getting one. No, that`s not the first time. This happens all the time! I have a problem controlling my cravings! What should I do? Is there a way to look up my meals and make sure I don’t eat more than I need?

  1. This is simply a willpower issue. On the other hand, it may be something medical as well. Try to take control of your eating habits. You don’t need to stop eating cookies or sweets at all, but do it wisely. For instance, you could select only those that have the least number of calories. It`s simple: if you eat more calories than you need, you’re going to start gaining weight. However, you can fix that. You can use online weight loss tools, like a menu planner and a calorie counter, which tell you exactly how many calories your meals have. The best site out there is http://www.projectweightloss.com, and it’s free. I’ve been a member for a few months there and I lost a lot of pounds since, plus I’ve got a bunch of new friends.

  2. If you want a weight loss web site I know a good one: http://www.Ediets.com only costs about $18/mo.

  3. TIP: CRAVINGS ONLY LAST 8-14 MINUTES.. DO WHATEVER U HAVE TO UNTIL IT PASSES AND KEEP URSELF FROMG GIVING INTO DOUGHNUTS AND OTHER SWEETS.

  4. Before you go on road trips or just rides in the car, make sure you eat a healthily meal, and pack snacks that are health so they are in the car with you, so when you see a sign like this, all you have to do, is just grab what you brought to eat. I know a person like that, she see's a thing on tv or on a billboard, and she's gotta have it. We just make sure, we remind her to grab something good for her.

  5. Well life is short! So try to stay healthy but don't make your life a misery.  If you are badly overweight try to control this temptation.  Otherwise perhaps make it a special treat and apply a condition that you can only have the doughnuts, say once a week and say if you have had fruit and veg every day.  Best of luck!

  6. I don't think it's about willpower as much as it is about instant gratification and impulse buying. It's not ENTIRELY your fault (Marketing and Advertisment heads spend BILLIONS in advertising so that you buy on impulse!) I think you need to discipline yourself, alot  yourself a 'sweet a day' or something like that, and REALLY encourage yourself not to go over your alloted amount. (You could also play with positive/negative reinforcement)

Best of luck! This is really challenging, but you can do it!
