Dream of old boyfriend routinely?

I dream about my first love over and over. When I wake up, I am usually feeling forlorn and find myself pining for him. We met when I was 15 and dated off and on for 7 years. I have been married for 12 years to another man and have not spoken with him since 1998. We broke up in 1992. The most recent dream entailed this: He had been looking for me everywhere and found me and we had a sexual encounter. After he and I had s*x in the dream, he and I helped people who were skydiving from a plane into the ocean. We couldn't be in the ocean too long however because it would cause everyone chemical burns!

Past dreams have always been about me looking for him and not being able to find him or I assume he has moved on to another relationship. These dreams drive me crazy and I probably have one about once a month. What is this all about?

  1. The dreams suggests many unresolved conflicts from this first relationship.  You must have cared for him but something happened to end the relationship and it likely was a very difficult breakup.  There were also likely some sexual issues between the two of you since after you had s*x you had to help someone skydiving and then the ocean produced burns indicating conflict.  In the dreams you are looking for a lost love.  This could also mean there are some issues in your current marriage. Likely, you are feeling you are getting enough attention and maybe you are feeling your husband does not find you as s**y as he once did.

I would suggest talking to your husband about your feelings.

  2. It's just a dream and doesn't have to mean anything.  Maybe it is hormone related?

  3. were you both deeply inlove? did you promise, make plans together? what was the reason that you ended the relation? Think about this, maybe there were unsolved situations, do you still have weird feelings about him? Maybe he is thinking a lot about u, maybe you didn't get over the relation and it's coming all the time. It happens to my best friend so she run to see him and it was a disaster. be strong and think about the family that you have now. 12 years married, doesn't deserve this. No being critical, just thinking about my friend's mistake.

  4. it is simple a recall of past memories.

  5. Well, I resemble that remark!  My first love was my best friend for a number of years...we didn't date seriously until the end of high school/beginning of college...and we broke up for a stupid reason...we are both  married to other people...and I am happily married, but every now & then, I will dream about that guy...

I mostly dream about old times that we had...and I have come to realize that I will dream of him when I hear one of our old songs, and especially when I am upset with my husband. (I think my subconscious mind is asking the "what if" because the dreams mostly occur when I am having conflict.  Somehow, I think we might have ended up together if I hadn't moved across the country to finish college...but my life has turned out nicely in spite of the one that got away.)

I guess you might need to explore why he keeps popping up in your dreams...and why the dreams bother you so much.

  6. ya know i'm 15 and i have a dream about my ex every now and then. Dreams to mean things. Usually they're trying to tell you something or that you must be thinking about him before you drift off to sleep. It's okay to have these dreams and if you want them to go away talk to him. Not about the dreams because he'll think that you're wierd. Since you're having dreams "looking for him" FIND HIM. He may be dreaming about you too. Who knows? I have one about my ex every now and then i try my best to avoid him but when i do the dreams keep pouring in. Like i said once before they're either trying to tell you something or he's constantly on your mind. Hopefully i've helped you out.
