Drivers Education in NYC?

Sorry if im posting this again but i did not get good answers.

I am going to start drivers education soon in NY, albany. I do not have a permit right now but i do not want to go through the hassle at DMV's waiting so i planned on joining drivers ed to just get my permit there and start classes. What will i need to bring with me the first day? Do i need a parent to sign papers or can i just go with my cousin. Also what do i need to bring with me for the permit test
