Im doing ok with my driving ...will be putting in for my test in next couple of months . I ve been told, You can make up to 15 driving faults and still pass the test (16 or more results in failure). However, if you commit one serious dangerous fault, this will be a fail. Apart from running someone over or speeding what is classed as a dangerous fault. what about stalling the car ?

  1. i think the best thing you could do is ask your driving instructor to be sure!!  he/she will definately be able to give you some examples of faults which will be classed either as minor or major.  stalling wont be an automatic fail - my other half stalled a lot in his test and still passed, but i would still try hard not to stall the car!  good luck!

  2. In the UK at least, a stall will not mean a fail. I stalled during my test and it is not a problem as long as you follow the correct recovery procedure. Handbrake on, out of gear, take a breath to calm yourself and then normal start off procedure. You know , mirror, signal, manoevure etc. But ask your instructor on your next lesson to confirm this.

  3. One of the answers was to sit your test in an automatic. That would be a big mistake, huge in fact as you would only be able to drive automatics and there are very few of them in the UK.

Sit it in a normal car ie the ones with the 'stick' and gear shift on the floor and you will be able to drive those and automatics.

You should have no trouble with concentrating on the road and your driving if taught properly.

Automatics are a lazy way of driving.

  4. dear god please never use a manual for a drivers test.  If your parents have an automatic use that instead, a stick often takes your attention away from the road unless you have been driving it for a significant amount of time and that could cost you.  What I would suggest is finding a smaller automatic car, not a truck or van which are often harder during the parking portion of the test.    these vehicles usually are the easiest to pass any drivers test with

  5. A serious fault is something potentially dangerous or something against the law.

Examples are crossing lanes on roundabouts, signalling one way and turning another, crossing to the wrong side of the road when entering a junction to the right. These would become Dangerous faults if you did them whilst there was another coming and one of you had to take evasive action.

Minor driving faults can be classed as serious if you make too many in the same area (ie - failure to use mirrors correctly).

Stalling in itself is not a serious fault - but it depends on where you stall and how you react. You must handbrake/neutral before restarting the  engine - but you may still fail if your stall has caused other people to be delayed - say in a queue or at a junction.

  6. idk ahahahahahaha

  7. hitting kurb or reverse is 1 not following signs jumping lights or lanes on roundabout will be a major

  8. if you stall the car remain calm. hand brake on and start of as you would normally,

3 or more minors for the same thing result in a serioUS

causing another driver to change speed or direction also counts as a serious

  9. OH! don't worry! Stalling wont be penalised. But failing in RE STARTING your engine in a stipulated time will be marked down. So you might wanna be fast in your actions. Brake, Neutral, Re-start Engine, hit 1st gear and roll off quickly. Check ur blind spots! =]

  10. No stalling the car isnt dangerous. Its stuff like bad observation, failing to stop at a STOP sign, going through a red, not stopping at a pedestrian crossing etc x*x

  11. I think stalling a car often will result in not being able to operate a motor vehicle correctly.  I am sure if you stall the car once the instructor will overlook it.

On that note.  If you are driving a standard car during your test remember not to:

    1. Always have your hand on the stick shift.

    2. Dont shift while turning at corner (wait until you have done the turn).

    3. Shift at the proper RPM (for my its 3000RPM).

  12. Stealing the car would definitely be something you want to avoid.

  13. Depends where you stall, and how you recover from the stall.

I stalled on a roundabout controlled by traffic lights, I instantly pulled away put the lights had changed, even though i was infront them so couldnt see them. That was a serious fault.

hitting a curb is a serious, driving too slow or fast is a serious.

Putting it in reverse by accident is a dangerous.

Being in the wrong lane on a  roundabout is a serious.

Not correcting a manover done wrong is a serious, e.g reverse around a corner, not being close to the curb and not correcting it (you do get one chance to correct it, but get a minor for doing so)

Instead of me listing anymore,, its best that you use your common sense and think about the only thing the examiners want you do to, is drive, and do all the manouvers safely.

Thats all that matters, if you do everything safely, they cant fail you.

  14. huh?

  15. stall is a seriosu, mounting the curb serious, observations are minor but cna lead to serious. Speeding is a serious.

  16. A dangerous fault is where the examiner needs to grab the steering wheel or slam on the brakes to stop an accident from happening.

  17. I don't know about stalling. I imagint that wouldn't be an automatic fail. Others might include running a stop sign or light, changing lanes unsafely, hitting another car....good luck!

  18. nooooooooooooo... i stalled the car on my test and i passed 1st time with only 2 minors....

if u drive realllly rubbish n stall they cud fail u but if the rest of ur drivin has been fine then they wudnt do it..... at the end of the day they allow for nervs x

  19. No seat-belts.

Failure to follow the road signs.

    No using your mirrors.

Not checking from side to side.....................

  20. thats ok. the test is not about testing your driving skill, is driving safly that matters.
