I am going to Spain on holiday shortly ( Benidorm area ) and i will be hiring a car, my question is i have seen these amber flashing lights above the roads in Spain that seem to continuously flash and everybody seems to ignore them. What are they for ? what do they mean ? and what are you suppose to do ? Thanks for any help you can give me.

  1. flashing amber means proceed with caution. most traffic lights go to flashing amber at offeak hours ie overnight but if you aproach them to fast they change to red and as you slowdown to stop they start to flash again.

  2. Take extra care, if the flashing amber light has a motif of a pedestrian on it, THEY have the right of way to cross, otherwise just take a bit of extra care more so with being in a renta a wreck............have a nice trip!

  3. Orange flashing lights are normally used in spain at pedestrian crossing - meaning that you can drive but you need to be extra careful and leave pedestrians pass.

On pedestrian crossings without traffic lights, pedestrians have right of way - ignored in some countries in Europe but in Spain people are quite sticking to the rules and might abruptly stop - so be careful!

  4. amber means slow down, and watch for pedestrians..

  5. they're all around Europe I believe, not only in Spain. They mean precaution. That's why everybody ignores them! LOL  It's like when you see a danger sign "deers crossing" or stuff like these that you just keep on going at the same speed. Just ignore them and use the other signs and the rules you would normally use. that's it
