You are to start your passing from a safe following distance, I use the 4 second rule for that distance, some states will mark you wrong for this as they teach a 3 second rule.

If your mirrors are adjusted right you will be safe to pull back over into the right lane when you can see the front of the car you are passing in your mirror in the center of your car.

I would answer B with a 3 second distance instead of 2 seconds, but it really depends on the state since we do have some different driving rules. I know in the state of Florida we have to keep at least a 3 second following distance.
