  1. Cover the brake........keeping your right foot slightly over the brake pedal in the event that you need to stop.

Bottom of the back tire.........stopping your vehicle so that you can see the bottom of the rear tires of the car in front of you.

Fat lady lane..............is the middle lane of the highway.....

Head slap.................is what the instructor does to you if you really mess up....

  2. Cover the brake means hover over the brake pedal, not necessarily USING the brake, but ready to use it if required.

Bottom of the back tires - usually stop behind a vehicle when you can see the bottom of the back tires where they touch the road, of the vehicle ahead of you.

Fat lady lane and head slap aren't in any book I've used....sorry, but they seem self evident, don't they?

  3. Cover the brake = Taking your right foot off of the gas pedal and hovering over the brake pedal.  This is generally a precaution when you feel that you may need to slow the car rapidly.

Bottom of the back tires =  This refers to a simple trick to stop at a safe distance behind other vehicles.  The driver should be able to see the bottom of their back tires touching the ground.

Fat lady lane = Not a clue.

Head slap = Not a clue.
