Driving through a Tropical Storm (Fay)?

Question

I am planning on driving up north to Tallahassee from Fort Lauderdale for Fall semester. I have checked the forecast and it seems that Tropical Storm fay is changing directions and heading West. I was planning on driving up thurs or friday and wanted to know if it was safe to drive on the turnpike while the hurricane was just off the coast to the east. I'm sure wind speeds might get to 35-40 mph on the turnpike as the hurricane shifts directions over the Atlantic. Is it dangerous to drive on the turnpike with these wind speeds? I fear flying debris like branches from the trees that line the Florida Turnpike. I know it would make the ride more dangerous, but it is not recommended what so ever?? Would appreciate any insight.. Thanks

Well my brother is on his way to Tallahassee now, but they left a long time ago. They said the wind was so bad they had to stop, i think they are in orlando now.  (Coming from miami) What you are going to see is what we saw these past few days, gusty winds and rain. Its not going to be that crazy, but i do suggest seeing where the storm is going to end up.

Also stay on the turnpike cuz its alot safer than I-95

well i wouldn't recommend it unitl the storm is for sure out of that region. wind of that speed could knock down some branches and the raing would be hard.
