Question:

Dropped Class but still being charged?

I had to drop my classes during the second week of the Spring 2007 semester. My grandmother passed away and I have to leave the state for an extended period of time. When I tryed to register for the fall semester I was told that I owed them $1,80o. When I looked into it I found out that they had not dropped my classes, instead charged me for them and gave me all F's. I have talked to everyone at the school and they have all been unwilling to help. Since I have moved 2 times since then I dont know where the paperwork is showing I dropped the class. I can't go to another school because I am now on accademic probation becasue of the F's and this school wont release my transcripts. Is there anything I can do to get this fixed so I can go back to any school?

  1. This is common... did you go to all the classes with a drop slip, and get the teachers to sign it... if not then they will charge you and give you F's... I know it sucks.

Talk to the chancellor... or dean.. i can't remember. Since your left because your grandma died they might let you off, but colleges can be real money mongrels... good luck

  2. Sorry about the passing of your grandmother.

But you should have withdrawled from the class online or over the phone.

Try to speak with a counselor or school accounts manager.  Don't give up after trying once.  Sounds like it wasn't your fault.
