Question:

Dubai with 4 children?

After all my research, I would love to go to Dubai to work - am even looking at getting qualifications that would help me get work there -but we have four kids. From what I've found out the packages seem to only cover up to 3 children. Does anyone know of employers that include 4 children in their packages? How expensive would it be to pay for the extra child ourselves -trying to work out if it would be worth it. I will be disappointed if it's not, as I would love to give my children the experience of living overseas and financially that doesn't seem so viable. I have a degree in linguistics and dental therapist qualifications. Was thinking of doing a teaching degree. Any other ideas?

I would say be a doctor or even better a hotelier- try getting a job in Intercontinental the make sure you live luxury- u could also be a concierge

    good luck!

  2. it depends on the job u do. there is no such thing as the companies give only max of three kids benefits.

depends on how ur pakage is negotiated

  3. I'm an English and English as a Second Language (ESL/EFL) teacher from Australia who has just secured a teaching contract in Abu Dhabi (not far from Dubai).  I have had so many questions about teaching in the Middle East and found many answers at this ESL teaching website: http://forums.eslcafe.com

From what I've seen and heard, most contracts have some leeway in terms of dependents.  You may find you can swap one aspect of the contract, which you don't need, to cover your forth child.  However, even if for instance the education allowance doesn't include all your kids, the benefits of a tax free salary and free accommodation should still put you ahead of your financial position in Australia.  You could even get a nanny for a reasonable price.

Further suggestions - most of the contracts ask for a minimum of two years teaching experience and most seem to pay more for content teachers rather than ESL.  So if you can, it would be worth getting teaching qualifications in English (or Maths) as well as ESL this might make you more desirable.  Try contacting Hays Education in Australia as they have lots of UAE contracts and may be able to advise about dependents, sought after attributes and qualifications.

There are a couple of Australian curriculum schools in the Sharjah which might be happy to answer your questions.  The Victorian International School of Sharjah (http://www.viss.ae/) which just opened and The Australian International School (http://www.ais.ae/). I wonder if it would even be possible for you to organise a UAE student teaching placement during you dip ed?  Just an idea. Hope this helps.
