Dublin For My Holiday =)?

Question

Me and my mum are going to dublin in ireland in augest.

Looking forward to it but just needing help on places to visit there and nice places to eat out but we have a budget :) anyone who can help ? thanks x

The main sight-seeing places in Dublin are all in easy reach of each other so your best bet is to start with a bus tour (you can start with these outside Trinity College which is also a nice place to see) and then you'll know the main places you stop off at then or later for a look.  Around and beyond Grafton Street is great and you can hop on a Luas and look a bit further too.  Regarding eating places, if you go off the beaten track a bit, you'll find less expensive options..Templebar has plenty of places..different types and price ranges..check the menus outside the doors to be sure.  If you travel on the Luas or DART also, it'll take you away from the city centre and to some other nice places in either direction..and that'll be a bit different and also less expensive too.

Captain Americas on Grafton Street is very good-cocktails are popular there. Make sure to visit Bewleys on Grafton Street. There are also decent places to eat in the Temple Bar area but I don't enjoy being in that area late at night (it's not a nice atmosphere, more a hen/stag party scene).

I would definitely recommend getting the DART out of Dublin either direction (but obviously avoid rush hour!).

If you have time look into getting a bus to Glendalough or Powerscourt in Co. Wicklow or Newgrange for the day. I think buseireann.ie

There's a free culture bus on Sundays which brings you to some great attractions in Dublin. www.cnci.ie

Captain Americas on Grafton street is my favourite place to eat in Dublin, there's always a good vibe at night, but be prepared to have to wait a bit for a table, everytime i've been it's been pretty busy in there and we've had to wait 30 mis or so.

Dublin's great! - U wanna hit Grafton Street for shopping.  Also, there is a great music and comedy scene - if you go onto ticketmaster.ie u can see what gigs r on when ur gonna be there.  There is Dublin zoo - great day out!

budget lodgings and fast food- anything more upscale comes at a price. I'll be going to Sligo around that time myself, much cheeper option and while it doesn't have the hustle and bustle of the Irish capital, it's very nice in it's own way.

As for nice places to go: you could take a bus to Malahide/Portmarnock beach which is quite nice, or go windowshopping in Grafton Street and picnic at St. Steven's Square. Make sure to bring a camera too. Other than that, no idea, I don't like to spend much time in Dublin when in Ireland (I don't like that big city business personally).
