  1. If I need to duck a wave on my longboard I slide off to front and  left, right before the wave hits me while grabbing the opposite rail behind the nose with my right arm over the top. Then I swim down as the wave passes over.  Probably about as effective as turtle rolling but I don't really like the turtle roll.

If it's small I will just push down on the rails while I push myself up with both feet on the tail, lifting my whole body off the board and allowing the wave to pass between me and my board.

  2. i duck dive on an 8 footer, i just don't get as deep when on my 6'2." i elongate the action of distributing my weight; if that makes sense. it sucks when i don't get the nose back up, then the wave shoots my board out from beneath me from the tail.

it's possible, just a lot harder.

  3. You'll just wear yourself out trying to duck dive that long a board. Look at this video about the Turtle Roll. You'll have to sit half way through the cheese to get to it, but it's pretty informative.

  4. you cant, on long boards you have to roll, but I'm not exactly shore how, i use a short board.

  5. on a long board, there too heavy to actually dive underneath the wave

sooo instead its called a turtle roll

    then the white water comes

you grab the rails of ur board and flip upside down

    good luck!

    hope I helped

  6. yeah, you need to do what they call a "turtle roll" or "eskimo roll."  What you do is grab on to the rails and as the break comes toward you, roll over so that the bottom of the board is up and let the wave pass over you.  Try to keep your chest close to the board and then roll back over and paddle again.

  7. i dont think you can but you can turtule dive

  8. Sorry, but it is impossible to submerge a 8 foot longboard.
