Due in 6 days, help?

Question

My first baby, a girl, is due on Sunday. Although I have everything I need, crib, changing table, diapers, clothes, etc, I feel completely unprepared. I know I'm full capable of caring for and loving my daughter, but at the same time I'm terrified! Did anyone have similar feelings? I've read everything I possibly could to prepare myself for the labor and delivery process, yet I'm still terrified about my upcoming hospital stay. Any words of advice?

I'm also interested in hearing about other mothers hospital stays and labor experiences.

just try not to stress too much, it is perfectly normal for you to feel like this!! I was a freak thinking I needed EVERY little thing, and the truth was i didn't use most of what i thought I absolutely needed!  I had an un-medicated birth, I'm not sure what method you are choosing but I was nervous!! i kept thinking OMG what am i getting myself into no meds!? but the worst part were the contractions and it helped that i had my spouse right there he was definitely the one that kept me going! it helps tremendously if you have someone there to be supportive and loving! as for preparing yourself, you really can't, but one thing i always kept in mind was i'm doing this to see my baby, when it's all done i'll be holding my baby and it will be downhill from there! (as far as the labor and delivery goes!) having a baby is another story!! the best thing you can do is try to stay as calm as you possible can, and remind yourself you can do this & pretty soon you will be looking into her eyes (that was the best moment of my life , looking into my son's eyes the very first time, and he was so calm he didn't even cry he just laid there and stared at me!)  I wasn't in the hopital, but my labor and delivery was wonderful, and like i said the worst part for me were the contractions!! Everything will be OK.

I don't think anyone is ready for a baby..

I'm pregnant and it's not my first child and I'm so nervous about everything.

So, totally normal what you feel..

No matter how much you prepare, you won't be prepared. Take a deep breath, take it easy, and deal with things as they come.

You also seem to be the kind of person that prepares to death. Forget it, just get a few basics and enjoy the baby.

First of all, billions of women have given birth and everyones got a different story, experience whether good or bad.  I think every birth has it's moments of worry.  It's perfectly normal....especially with the first.  It's a natural experience.  It's the wonderful thing we women get to bring life into this world.  Something men can not EVER do. (we have one up on them!!)

Expect the unexpected.  Remember, your mom did it! (and grandma too!) The daughter you are expecting will one day go through it too.  

I think once you see and hold your daughter and you just start doing what feels right and natural to you, you will see there really is nothing to fear.

I went through everything you could possibly imagine lol. I thought I would never see the baby for the most awful reasons. I thought I would be a terrible mom, etc. Just take a deep breath........hold it........think of you finally holding your baby and slowly let your breath out and smile. :) Just know something.....no one could ever be prepared for such a moment, be prepared for any and everything. But don't panic regardless to what happens coz everything happens for a reason unknown to us, and no matter what it is.......it is for our own good :) I have firm faith in that and it has helped me in every area of my life........especially in regards to my kids :)

lol. I don't think anyone's ever really prepared. All you have to do is make sure that you have everything the baby might need. Everything else comes natural, even ewhen you think it won't.

Calm down. What you are feeling is totally normal. You will be a great mom, because you care enough to worry. I am sure you have everything you need.
