Has anyone heard anything about them? Anyone tried them? Its a full day of lessons in a class of 6 with two instructers i think. from 7:30 - 5 w/breakfast and lunch. At first i was blown away by the $$$, however included in the $525 is a $400 callaway gift card for equipment & apperal. The program is tailored for TRUE BEGINERS like me and my wife which is good. but as true beginers i scared to buy new stuff. I don't want to tear it up. But i have to spend it, since the card only works for callaway.

My wife and I really want to learn. We are both agile folks who have little trouble picking up new sports and activities. Is this a good deal. Spending over 1k is never fun. Please help me see the light.

Also, i thought about buying used or borrowing, but eventually i would want to upgrade, and what i bought used is now dead money.

  1. Well, I know nothing about the specific class, but it doesn't sound like a bad deal. You're basically paying $125 for about 8 hours of one-on-one instruction (2 instructors for 6 people might as well be one-on-one). A typical instructor will charge you between $40 and $100 an hour. You do the math.

And don't fret about that $400 gift card. Callaway makes very good clubs, and they'll certainly get you properly fitted. $400 will pay for most of a set of irons, but if you don't think you're ready for that, you could always buy any combination of a putter, sand wedge, gap wedge, and balls that add up to $400 and they'll be worth every penny for as long as you owe them (putters are completely personal, and wedges don't need to be that specific to your swing as far as fitting goes).

BTW, just to be on the safe side, I'd ask someone specifics about the gift card thing. Sometimes those internet catalog things are a total scam where they undercharge you for the products, that charge the retail price of the product for "shipping and handling." Just make sure you're not getting screwed.

  2. I would do it! Not only does it sound like alot of fun. Its cheap for lessons and it sounds like you have an opportuninty to learn alot. The 400 dollar gift cards wont go that far for irons. Callaway is the most expensive brand but they hold their value longer than other brands because of it. Why buy nice things if you never use them? Nice things are going to get worn and torn but solong as its not meaninging less wear and tear.
