  1. How do you know which side is the "bottom"?  North and south are just conventions.

Gravity pulls everything toward the center of the Earth.  Gravity comes (mainly) from the Earth, not anywhere outside it.

  2. There is no up or down in space. Down is the direction things fall. In space things don't fall. On Earth they fall toward the center of the planet. They do not fall south. Things at the north pole fall south but things at the south pole fall north.

The idea that south is down and that the south pole is the bottom of the Earth is just a map making rule that most people follow. There is no reason that maps couldn't be made with north down. Just like there is no real reason we have to write by starting at the left side of the page and marking letters and words toward the right. The Japanese start at the top and write down the page in columns for example. It is just a different rule.

  3. gravity pulls us to the center of the earth, no matter where we are we wont just fall out into space

  4. We are at the surface of the earth. The earth doesn't really have a bottom unless you mean its core.

But we can stand because according to the theory of evolution, over millions of years, life forms have evolved and we are just one of them. We happened to evolve to have the ability to function in a way that allows our bodies to stand up right and resist gravity.

  5. Gravity pulls us closer to the center... the ground is blocking our way. Any object that is big enough has enough gravity to pull things. All objects have gravity, but some don't have enough to affect anything.
