Question:

Easy home remedies for nausea?

by  |  earlier

I get nauseous a lot and I need a remedy. I've heard of drinking warm, flat soda, but even the thought of food or drink makes me feel worse. Does anyone have something easy, but common that I can do to make myself feel better? And don't tell me to just throw up, I can't. I cannot even make myself throw up if I try, not even with a toothbrush.

Help!

  1. Deficiency in sodium(salt) is one the reasons for having nausea.

Basil juice(mint or pudina) immediately stops nausea.

By the way whats ur age and if you are married, are you pregnant in any case?

  2. Heres some remedies my mom would always use when I was little..and actually she still makes us do them when we get nauseous:

    1. Suck on Rock candy or put some in hot tea. I'm not sure what this does...but it literally works every time.

    2. Eat half an apple.

    3. Drink some milk. My cousin was a hospital intern and they would use this for their patients. It's supposed to coat your stomach so you don't get that nauseous feeling.

    4. Ginger is amazing for feeling nauseous. It will almost instantly work.

    Hope you feel better.

    :)

  3. Lie down on your back with your feet elevated a bit, and put a cold ice pack (wrapped in a towel) on the back of your neck and on your forehead.

  4. EAT CRACKERS AND BLAN FOOD TOAST BANNANS AND RICE THE DOC I WORK FOR TELLS US TO DO THAT

  5. Any type or Ginger is supposed to help. That's why they say to drink Ginger Ale. So you could try Ginger Ale.

Also my mom used to have me suck on a mint,

How long have you been feeling this way? I hope your ok. i hate nausea...you might be dehydrated too. It becomes a cycle. Your dehydrated so you feel sick so you don't drink which doesn't help the nausea and it keeps going round and round.

You should at least try one sip an hour of water to keep hydrated.

My favorite is to get a big glass of ice and mix half water and half gatorade.

    Good Luck

  6. Try a cup of warm water with honey mixed through it. works a treat every time.

  7. Suck on an ice cube, take very small sips of ice water, suck on a (strong, not overly sweet) peppermint or chew minty gum, or nibble on a piece of candied ginger. A small cup of catnip tea (preferably cold and sweet) might also help relieve stomach discomfort, but too much is an emetic.

Something that's not herbal or edible in any way that helps when I'm nauseated (or too drunk to fall asleep comfortably...) is to read or do crossword puzzles. You're limiting your field of vision to avoid overstimulation and also distracting your brain from the feeling.

Good luck! And if there's really nothing else that helps, try to get the doctor to prescribe a fast acting anti-nausea medication like promethazine hydrochloride for your episodes. I'm severely emetophobic and after long experiments with different anxiety medications that didn't help this has kept me un-sick and sane for a couple years now.
